AUSTIN (CBSDFW.COM) – Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo will be honored in Austin on Wednesday.

State lawmakers will recognize Romo for his career with the Cowboys and celebrate his retirement from the gridiron.

Romo is expected to be at the Capitol between 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Romo announced in April he was retiring from football and going to work for CBS to broadcast NFL games.

Family and ongoing injuries were a factor in the decision, but Romo said he also could not pass up the opportunity to transition to television.

“It just started to feel right going to CBS,” said Romo. “I felt a connection there.”
