Mother’s Day is a great time of the year to honor and thank your mother for everything she has done in your life. Whether you are a child, a teenager, a young adult or have grown into adulthood to become friends with your mom, there are plenty of ways to celebrate her special day. When it comes time to go out and give your mom a good time, the Dallas and Fort Worth area offers great options no matter how old — or young — you happen to be. This Mother’s Daty is on May 13 and here are some great ways to take your mom out for a day of fun to celebrate the holiday in 2018.
Scarborough Renaissance Festival

The Scarborough Renaissance Festival takes place every year in Waxahachie and features some of the best renaissance fun in the DFW area. The festival lasts almost two months, with events on every Saturday and Sunday from April 7 through May 28. They also offer themed weekends and Mother’s Day weekend is titled Celebrating Chivalry Weekend. They will offer a Mother’s Day brunch event for the whole family with a buffet from noon to 1 p.m. both days that weekend. The Members of the Royal Court will also pay special visits to honor mothers. The cost is $20 for adults, $10 for kids 12 and under, and anyone under four gets in free.
Dallas Academy of Music and Performing Arts

Every year, the Dallas Academy of Music and Performing Arts offers something for all fans of stage productions. Last year, it was Willy Wonka Jr. A Musical, and this year, it is the lesser known, but critically acclaimed Pippen the Musical. The musical offers excitement for mothers, sons, and any other family members who want to join in. There are acrobatics, magical feats, and songs composed by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked). The former Broadway musical will hit the stage over Mother’s Day weekend, with its final show at 2 p.m. on Mother’s Day itself.

The biggest and best amusement park in the DFW area also offers one of the biggest and best mother-son date ideas for Mother’s Day every year. Six Flags Over Texas offers a great chance for moms and sons to have a very fun day with something for both to enjoy. From roller coasters like the New Texas Giant and classic Shock Wave to family rides like the Aquaman Splashdown and the El Aserradero water ride, there is more than enough fun. Add in DC Comics superheroes and Looney Toons characters walking the park, and this is a Mother’s Day event with memories that will last forever. The best thing is that anyone with a pass holder can bring their mother on Mother’s Day weekend and she gets in free of charge.

Reunion Tower offers a great Mother’s Day mom-son date on its iconic GeO-Deck. For those unfamiliar with the DFW icon, the GeO-Deck is 470-feet up above the Dallas skyline with a panoramic view of the city. It is a must-see for anyone — day or night. For Mother’s Day, Reunion Tower offers sons a chance to make their mothers the “queen for a day” with a trip to the GeO-Deck. The event lasts from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. and includes a brunch with a Latin-themed drag show featuring Onyx Anderson, Raquel Blake, Athena O’Hara and special guest Myra. Not only will mother and son get a great brunch and a fun show, but the Hard Rock will also give all mothers a special gift. Reservations are highly recommended for this show.
