The Land Commissioner says folks shouldn’t change beach plans because of tar balls found from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.  Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson says there are tar balls that wash up all the time on Texas beaches.  “Go to the beach, there’s no reason not to.  There are no more tar balls today than occur naturally on Texas beaches.”  Patterson doesn’t think it’s likely that these particular tar balls actually floated across the gulf from the spill off the Louisiana coast.  He’s pretty sure a ship of some kind carried the oil here.  Attorney General Greg Abbott is asking for 25 million dollars from BP for cleanup, although Patterson at this point says that kind of money isn’t needed.  Abbott is also pretty sure a claims office will be opened in Texas for businesses who think they are losing money because of the tar ball report.
