Oncor is trying a new tree-pruning policy in the Lakewood area of Dallas but there haven’t been many takers.
Right now the distance a tree can be from power lines is 10 feet, 4 inches. The program will allow for a 7 foot distance, and you get to choose from a list of approved aborists to trim the tree to your liking. But only 1 homeowner has signed on. Most residents and arobrists say the contract allows Oncor to sue the homeowner if the tree breeches that 7 foot distance. They say certain trees grow quickly and they don’t want to be held liable.
