Changes in Senate lead to Statewide Energy Plan Mandate
It’s musical chairs for Senate Committees. After shuffling committee chairs in the Senate Lt. Governor David Dewhurst immediately put the new Natural Resources Chair, Senator Troy Frasier to work, ordering that committee to come up with a statewide energy plan proposal. Dewhurst says he also wants that committee to look at the current TCEQ-EPA clean air battle, saying an energy plan could help clean up the air at the same time. “We’ve been trying to look at how to reduce emissions in a clean way and still provide reliable power.” Dewhurst feels the EPA is overreaching it’s authority by trying to kill the state’s flexible air permitting program.
