Oncor Says Smart Meters Working Properly

Oncor says its smart meters are pretty smart, after all.    After testing thousands of digital meters Oncor says it found about two dozen defective ones,  out of 1.1 million installed in Texas.
Oncor also notes that none of the bad meters were in Dallas, Temple or Killeen —- where customers had first complained about higher bills.
Oncor plans to have 3.4 million of the new meters installed by 2012.  A PUC order  allows the utility to  add a $2.21 monthly charge to its bills to pay for the smart meters.
