American Airlines will pay a $5-million dollar fine to settle a price-fixing lawsuit.
The airline has also agreed to provide evidence against other airlines as part of the class-action deal. Freight-shippers had claimed they were victims of a “price fixing cartel”.
American’s spokesman says the company has done nothing wrong and the settlement is not an admission of liability. U.S. and European officials say they found evidence of price fixing. Air France, Korean Air and British Airways have also been fined during the investigation.
