State is Contacting Uninsured

If you don’t have auto insurance expect a little nudge from the state.  In the two years since a new database came on-line the number of uninsured motorists has dropped from around 25 percent to around 21 percent.  That however means there are still millions without insurance and if you’re one of them Department of Insurance Spokesman Jerry Hagins says you’ll be getting a letter soon asking you to. “contact us, let us know if there’s a valid reason for that.”  Hagins says there are some reasons not to have insurance, you’re in the military, it’s an antique car or the car is out of service for an extended repair.  The goal here is to eventually get the percentage of uninsured in the single digits but Hagens says that will take a while.

They should send a carbon copy of the letter to the local police so they can check up. If you’ve ever been involved in an accident with an uninsured driver, you know that it’s the hassle of your life.

Simply put, those who are driving without insurance (without one of those acceptable reasons mentioned) are, in fact, illegals. But apparently we can’t do much when “illegals” number in the millions!
