Remember the flap about smart meters. Well it turns out they are very accurate and not the cause of huge electricity bill spikes back in February according to a new report presented to the Public Utility Commission. The Commission’s Terry Hadley says February was cold so people used a lot more power than they thought and blamed high bills on new smart meters. He says people just now getting those meters might see the same thing. “You’re going to have the same energy use patterns. For example we’re in the heat of summer so your consumption more that likely will be up which will result in a higher bill, but it won’t be as a result of the meter.” Hadley says where there are still complaints power companies are trying to get those worked out.
