The state wants to make sure you are sending your kids to safe, licensed day care. A new campaign called don’t be in the dark aims to educate parents on searching for day care and tell those running unlicensed day care that they should come in and get that license. “We usually find that those who are providing illegal day care don’t even know they need a permit and usually once they find out they either get regulated and get educated or they just get out of the business.” Department of Family and Protective Services Spokesman Darrell Azar says this new campaign includes a website, DontBeInTheDark.org, that will give you licensing, inspection and investigation data on day care center’s in your area so you can make a more informed choice.
