A pair of North Texas retailers release July sales numbers, and the stories are very different.
Same store sales for Dallas-based JC Penney dropped just over half a percent, while Neiman Marcus climbed more than 12 percent. The numbers don’t surprise SMU economist Dr. Bud Weinstein who tells KRLD if you look at the retail sales figures over the last couple months for the nation he says there are some stores seeing higher sales, others lower. The exception, high-end sellers like Neiman Marcus. Weinstein adds the back-to-school rush this month will bring the most help to low and middle-line stores like J.C. Penney.
