Several emergency rooms across North Texas are seeing an increase in patient traffic thanks to the continued heat. Some patients have either gotten too much heat, or have a medical condition that’s gotten worse because of the hot weather. Dr. Paul Pepe at U-T Southwestern Medical Center suspects heat-related illness is underreported, since many folks don’t seek medical attention at all, and instead park under the air conditioner and drink water to treat their symptoms.
