You may remember back in 2007 there were several sexual assault cases at TYC facilities that moved the legislature to totally revamp the youth commission.  One of those victims, now in his mid 20’s living in North Texas, is still awaiting his case to go to trial.  Former West Texas State School principal John Paul Hernandez was charged with that assault three years ago but has yet to go to trial.  The victim’s Attorney Scott Medlock says it’s about time he did because this delay is also delaying a civil trial against Hernandez.  “We’ve been putting that case off because it court hurt the state’s case against Mr. Hernandez if we were to put the clients best case on in the civil trial.”  Medlock is calling on the judge in the case to set a trial date immediately.  “Now the Attorney General’s office tells us that they’re ready to rock and roll and try this guy and the judge won’t set a trial date.”
