New Infrared Cameras Capture Fort Worth Chase
A new piece of equipment on the Fort Worth Police Department’s helicopter is being credited with helping save the life of an officer this weekend. Grant money allowed the department to upgrade the infrared camera system just last week, and Saturday, the better at-night imaging system helped in a chase and fiery head-on collision involing an officer. When a man wanted for kindnapping and killing a woman from College Station made a U-Turn on US 287, helicopter pilot Jay Paschke tells CBS-11 officers in persuit knew ahead of time. A head-on collision with Officer Kerry Gober followed, and other officers quickly got Gober out of his unit before it caught fire. He’s now out of the hospital.
