Sunday’s high of 105 didn’t break the August 22nd record but it was close. When the official DFW Airport mercury touched 105 degrees Sunday afternoon, it tied the 30-year-old mark set during the monster heat wave of 1980.  This month, we’ve touched triple-digits every day but one since the last day of July.  And it could happen again today because the National Weather Service is expecting a high of 106.  But then a front of cooler air is due to move across the Red River, meaning our highs might be no warmer than the mid-to-upper 90s for the rest of the week.
