The maker of a toy gun is being sued by a mother from Fort Worth because of the serious burns she says her son suffered.
It wasn’t the gun itself, but the 8 cap ring used in it that Synehtia Allen tells CBS-11 caused 2nd and 3rd degree burns on her 4 year-old son’s inner thigh and genitals.
In 2001, The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a warning that carrying the caps in pockets could cause them to ignite and injure kids. Allen’s attorney calls the warning on the package of the Real Big Shot toy gun inadequate, and says that’s the reason for the 15 million dollar lawsuit he’s now filed on Allen’s behalf against toy gun maker Energy Club Incorporated. Allen’s son is still recovering from the burns he suffered 2 weeks ago. His injuries were so severe, he’s still being treated for his burns three times a week.
