If you have any expired or leftover pills in your medicine cabinet, you can now get rid of them — safely. The Drug Enforcement Agency is joining with state and local law enforcement agencies for National Take-Back Day. Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, you can drop off expired, unwanted or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications for destruction at numerous sites across North Texas and across the country. The one-day effort is intended to bring national focus to the issue of increasing prescription drug abuse.

Notes about the program:
* The program is anonymous.
* Prescription and over-the-counter solid dosage medications, i.e. tablets and capsules accepted.
* Intravenous solutions, injectables and needles will not be accepted. Illicit substances such as marijuana or methamphetamine are not a part of this initiative.
