So many good, make that GREAT things about the Cowboys 27-6 win over the Texans today…1-2 never looked so good.
The Cowboys willed themselves to win today. Key point in the game? DeMarcus Ware, who had three sacks on the day, sacked Matt Schaub late in the second to give the ball back to the offense.
The Cowboys then marched down the field and got what they needed, a 49 yard field goal from David Buehler who probably saved his job today with hits from 49 and 44. Another key?
The 80 yard drive that finally got the Cowboys offense untracked in the second and ate up 7:30 on the clock. It was even more significant that the Cowboys overcame a Miles Austin penalty that wiped out a huge Felix Jones gain and basically added 40 of those “hidden yards” to the drive. Other kudos? The defense stuffs Houston after they had a first and goal inside the 1 yard line. A Keith Brooking sack forced the Texans to take a field goal and keep the score at 17-6.
And that was followed by the Roy Williams play. Kareem Jackson slips in man coverage and the rest was history. A 63 yard touchdown pass from Romo and maybe Roy’s best day as a Cowboy. 5 Catches for 117 yards and two touchdowns. Good for Roy after the horrible showing from his alma mater yesterday.
As for Romo, 23-30 for 284 and two TD’s. No turnovers.
Next: Buehler hits again from 40 yards. Oh yes, and the defense created turnovers. A Mike Jenkins pick, a Danny McCray picks, and a Terrence Newman fumble recovery. It’s going to be a much nicer week at Valley Ranch. Oh yea, and screw me for picking the Texans 21-17. I think it motivated them to win. Not.
