Owner of Segway Co. Drives One Off Cliff
The British businessman who bought the Segway personal-transporter company last year died in a freak accident this weekend when he apparently drove one of his own products off a cliff and into a river Police said British tycoon Jimi Heselden was found in the River Wharfe near Wetherby Sunday and died at the scene. A Segway was found nearby. Police said a member of the public had reported seeing a man fall over a 30-foot drop into the river on Sunday Last year, Heselden bought the US-based Segway company that makes the two-wheeled personal transporter. The firm was started by American inventor Dean Kamen in 1999.
