Governor Perry says the Federal Government needs to send more help to the border, pointing to the killing of an American in Falcon Lake.
The shooting of 30-year-old David Michael Hartley in Falcon Lake points to the fact that there are still too many holes in our border security that the federal government needs to plug says Governor Perry. “We know that American citizens every day are being put in jeopardy because the federal government has failed to secure that border.” The Governor says ranchers have been facing those dangers too with illegal drugs and people being smuggled across their land in South Texas and without more enforcement this will continue to happen.
The Department of Public Safety says people going to Falcon Lake should not cross into Mexican waters after the shooting. DPS Spokeswoman Tela Mange says “there are pylons in the lake marking the international zone between Texas and Mexico.” Mange says there have been problems with pirates in the Mexican waters before but this is the first time they apparently just started shooting.
