Texas has over a million registered donors, a year ago that number stood at about two hundred thousand.
The state health Department’s Carrie Williams says
legislation passed last year means witness signatures are no longer required. “It’s one of the best things you can do. It’s free, it’s easy and for some people it’s the only chance they have at life.”
Williams says there are ten thousand Texans waiting for hearts, lungs, livers and kidneys to save their lives. She says one person can save up to eight lives, and other body parts, like eyes and tissue can help dozens more.
