From Dallas Cowboys
IRVING (105.3 THE FAN) – Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marcus Spears was placed on injured reserve Wednesday after suffering a torn calf in Sunday’s 45-7 loss at Green Bay.
The Cowboys also placed kick returner Akwasi Owusu-Ansah on injured reserve because of an ankle injury he suffered in Week 8 against Jacksonville.
Spears, the 20th overall pick in the 2005 draft out of LSU, had 24 total tackles in eight games — seven starts — this year.
Owusu-Ansah appeared in the first seven games this season and averaged 21.7 yards on 25 kickoff returns with a long of 41 yards.
Dallas added two defensive linemen on Wednesday, signing Jeremy Clark and Jimmy Saddler-McQueen to the active roster.
Clark was released by Arizona on September 3. He played four NFL games with the New York Giants in 2008, recording four tackles, and was released before the start of the 2009 campaign.
Saddler-McQueen originally signed with the Chicago Bears following the 2010 NFL Draft, but was released on July 21. He joined the Cowboys on July 29 and was released on final roster cuts, then signed with the St. Louis Rams’ practice squad.
