FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM ) – The body of a fallen soldier from North Texas killed in Afghanistan has been returned home to be laid to rest.

Private First Class Austin Staggs’ body arrived at Fort Worth’s Alliance Airport this afternoon.  A convoy of support from the DFW Patriot Guard and others were on hand to honor the return of Staggs’ body, honor and heartache intertwined under windgusts.

The 19-year old from Weatherford was killed in Afghanistan earlier this month.  PFC Staggs was one of five U. S. Servicemen killed in a shooting near the Pakistan border.  The news indicating Staggs was one of those five came Monday to his family.  It was his first tour of duty.

“He was committed to the military, to his family.  He did a good job.  He protected us.  We have freedom because of people like my son,” said his mother Kay Jordan.

PFC Staggs was born in Fort Worth, and raised in Parker County .

His funeral will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Weatherford’s First Baptist Church.
