BEDFORD (AP) – Police say an off-duty officer working at a Dallas-area hospital used a Taser to subdue an unruly patient who allegedly assaulted two employees.
Bedford police Lt. Kirk Roberts said the officer and other employees responded to a report of a “violation situation” about 6:15 a.m. Dec. 14. Roberts said the officer gained control of the man with the Taser so that staff members of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford could restrain him.
Roberts told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that the officer used a technique in which an electric charge is administered without firing the Taser’s projectiles.
Roberts said possible charges against the unidentified man are under investigation.
A hospital spokeswoman declined to discuss details of the case, citing privacy laws.
