PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) – Open any beauty magazine and you’ll see plenty of it– long, thick, gorgeous hair. But what if there’s hardly any hair at all? The Revage laser is the newest way to attack thinning hair.

“The results are not the same for everyone,” said Denise Nolan of Hair Restoration Services in Plano,  “but i would say it’s 99 percent positive for most people. “

The non-invasive laser stimulates dormant hair follicles–waking them up so they start producing hair again. The hair already sprouted by healthy follicles becomes thicker and shinier after about four weeks.

“Some women it takes two or three months to see difference,” said Nolan. “but when you see little chicken hairs it’s a beautiful feeling.”

Technicians at Hair Restoration Services in Plano see plenty of clients who long for celebrity grade locks, but the bulk of their clientele have far more pressing concerns–serious hair loss caused by a myriad of health conditions. Experts warn that some scalps don’t respond to the laser for a host of different reasons.  So, prior to treatment a scan is done to determine if you’re a good candidate or not.

The Revage laser treatment requires a six month commitment.  Doctors recommend 30 minute sessions twice a week. So how much will you pay for your thicker hair? Upwards of $3,400, but those who live with the embarrassment of hair loss say it’s a small price to pay.
