PARKER COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) – Parker County officials are on the hunt for a serial arsonist.

Since December of 2010 there have been eight fires intentionally set in one Weatherford neighborhood.

The latest blaze, in the 1500 block of Liberty Street, was sparked when grass on the side of the road was set fire.

Officials say the fire, set during extreme dry and windy conditions, spread quickly to a nearby-populated area, burning a barn, well house and shed to the ground. Two homes also had to be evacuated.

Officials are warning residents in the 1500 block of Liberty Street, King Street and East 6th Street area to be very weary of anyone they don’t know or any vehicle they don’t recognize in their neighborhood.

Fire Marshall Bob Hopkins, with the Weatherford Fire Department, stressed to citizens that, “It is imperative that all citizens stay extremely alert for anything suspicious in order to assist fire and police officials in bringing the perpetrator(s) of this serious crime to justice.”

Anyone with information about any of the fires or who thinks they may have seen something suspicious is asked to call the Weatherford Fire Department at (817) 598-4280 or Parker County Crime Stoppers at (817) 599-5555 or (800)-942-STOP.

Mike, thank God someone else sees the kind of illiteracy in the news these days. What schools do these dolts graduate from? By the way folks, “weary” means to be tired or exhausted. Go check out WFAA.com one day. Talk about mistakes. I don’t know if they’re #1 in news, but they’re definitely #1 in idiocy.
