WESTON (AP) - A North Texas man has been charged with murder after his girlfriend was allegedly dragged behind his vehicle with a rope around her neck.
Collin County Jail records show 47-year-old Theron Wayne Johnson was held without bond Friday.
Electronic jail records did not list an attorney for Johnson, who was arrested Thursday after leading deputies to the body near Weston, about 35 miles north of Dallas. The rope was still around the victim’s neck when the authorities arrived.
Sheriff’s Lt. John Norton says Johnson lives on the rural property where the body was recovered.
The sheriff’s office says Johnson told deputies that the woman put the rope around her neck and tied it to the bumper. Further details on the investigation were not immediately released.
Autopsy results are pending on the woman, whose name was not immediately released.
