ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - The Texas Rangers are making a mid-season change, but it has nothing do with who is on the field.

The baseball club announced that, starting on Friday night, Dave Barnett will be the new television play-by-play announcer. He will join former player Tom Grieve, who remains in the booth as a TV analyst.

John Rhadigan started the year as the television play-by-play announcer. Rhadigan will be returning to Fox Sports Southwest.

Barnett was part of the Rangers radio team. Former Major League Baseball pitcher Steve Busby will take over in the radio booth. He will team up with Eric Nadel.

The new TV team will debut Friday night on TXA 21’s Friday Night Baseball. The Rangers take on the Kansas City Royals at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Pre-game coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. on TXA 21, with Gina Miller and Mark McLemore. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
