DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) Several local artists and one elephant will be providing artwork at a fundraiser Wednesday night for Love for Kids, a local organization that helps underprivileged and disabled children.
While she won’t be on hand for the “Art & Wine Experience,” Jenny the Dallas Zoo Elephant has provided artwork that she painted last August to benefit the charity.
Several human artists will be at the event, however, including internationally renowned sculptor Juanluis Gonzalez; Dallas-area singer Aubree-Anna; poet and painter Chrystal Rae; and Joanne Brooks, a partially paralyzed artist who makes jewelry with her feet.
This is Love For Kids’ second annual “Art & Wine Experience,” and the organization is expecting a crowd of about 200 people, said Ann Marie Godbolt, a member of the organization’s board of directors.
The event will raise money for Love For Kids’ major events, including a spring event at Circle K Ranch for mentally and physically disabled children, and a Christmas party that hosts over 3,000 children who all go home with a toy.
“We want to make sure that we can keep the number of children we invite to the event the same,” said Godbolt.
In addition to their events for children, Love for Kids also puts on a “Spring Fling” event for seniors, since they are kids at heart, said Goldbolt.
“We all kind of turn back into that stage where we don’t have anyone, but we really need help,” she said.
The event will be held at a home in the Preston Hollow area of Dallas. Tickets can be purchased on the Love For Kids website for $25 or at the door for $30. Click here for additional information.
