AZLE (AP) – A nighttime collision involving a motor boat and three kayaks on a North Texas lake has left one person missing and another hurt.
Rescue crews Tuesday resumed the search for the kayaker missing on Eagle Mountain Lake. Azle Fire Department Capt. Travis Reed says the accident happened Monday night in a poorly lit part of the lake.
Tuesday rescuers are using side-scan sonar and dive teams in the search for the missing man.
“We’re just looking for a missing person at this point. There were some subjects out in some kayaks, watching some fireworks, and another motorboat come across and hit one of ‘em,” explained Captain Neal Bieler with Texas Parks and Wildlife.
Bieler says a man in another kayak suffered a leg injury. He’s being treated for a broken leg.
The driver of the boat stopped to help after the Fourth of July evening accident.
