Willie Nelson’s Plea Bargain Rejected By Judge

EL PASO (AP) – A West Texas judge has rejected country singer Willie Nelson’s plea bargain that would have resolved his marijuana possession case with a fine.

Hudspeth County Judge Becky Dean-Walker told The Associated Press Wednesday that she rejected prosecutor Kit Bramblett’s suggestion that Nelson plead guilty and pay a $500 fine for possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor not punishable with jail time.

Dean-Walker says, “It’s not right simply because he doesn’t do that for anybody else.”

She wants Nelson charged with the misdemeanor of possession of marijuana, which could mean up to one year in jail.

Bramblett did not return a call. Nelson’s publicist declined comment.

Nelson was arrested in November at a Border Patrol checkpoint when an agent searched his tour bus. He was later released on bail.

By all means- stick a harmless, 78 year old man in a cage for a year for possessing a plant. Then, once a year, we can all burn sparklers and chortle about how “free” we are.

Disgusting examples of waste and excess like talentless Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton get a “slap on the wrist” and a fine for doing far worse things, and sometimes even having a ‘victim’ in their crimes. An American legend like Willie Nelson should be treated a LOT better than the likes of the Hollywood “elite”. I’m not a pro-weed kinda guy, and I’m not a huge country fan either. But I appreciate Willie for his contributions to music, Texas, and our country in general. Come on judge…give this old Texan a break…Take his money (what the IRS didn’t) and let him roll. He wasn’t even driving the bus and you KNOW he doesn’t sell it.

What worse thing is there to do than support a drug cartel. Lives are lost.

    Willie, Willie, Willie
Such a magnet for little skirts with the law.
You’d think he’d of grown out of his addiction by now (he’s 78 y/o!), sober up, and just do what his true talent is…making great music!
Willie, Willie, Willie…what are we to do with you???

    1. norulers says:

What are we to do with YOU? When will YOU grow out of your fascist, puritanical, authoritarian mind set and respect the lives of individuals, as long as they don’t agress upon others? When will YOU finallly quit your childish foolishness and start living as a civilized human being?

        Anarchists need not apply.
PS – I can tell from your rant that you are of the Liberal mind-set a/k/a not tolerant of others who differ from you AND lacking a sense of humor.
        Chill out, norulers.
        Just Chill out, buddy.

pray he goes to jail where he belongs

I can see smoking pot has not helped him mature emotionally. Maybe a little nudge fron the judge will help. It is just time for Willie to grow up and live in reality for once in his life.

  6. NiteNurse says:

Texas is a bit more tough then California when it comes to pot. I really think it would be a shame putting a senior citizen in jail for pot.

    1. Cole Younger says:

      your a fool

  7. Cole Younger says:

He broke the law ……send him to jail,,,,,,,,,,,,end of story

  8. Thomas says:

This is not his first arrest. Time for him do some time. He is no better than anyone else.
