FLOWER MOUND (CBSDFW.COM) – A 12-year-old Flower Mound boy likes designing dresses.

And he’s incredibly talented at it: His special design for First Lady Michelle Obama is already being stitched together in Dallas.

“I realized I was doing stuff other kids really weren’t doing,” Grant Mower said.

Grant knew he had talent when he was only seven. His talent blossomed, and now he’s gaining recognition as a budding fashion designer.

“It’s pretty crazy. I can’t really use any other word to describe it,” Grant said.

Grant won a Terry Costa design competition last year, beating out high school and college kids.

“Gabrielle and I sat in the corner at Terry Costa and giggled when we saw that this cute model, amazing model, Morgan Ballard, was getting told her designer was 11-years-old,” his mother, Moanna Mower, said

Hi sister, Gabrielle, has been his muse and his model.

“The ruche coat and the black and white dress and the pink. I love all his designs. I really do,” Gabrielle said.

She has aspirations to become a runway model herself. Grant says his early inspiration came from Watching Project Runway.

“That’s pretty much when the passion started,” Grant said.

He hopes one day to have his own fashion line and label.

“My idea with my line is to try to create Haute Couture, which I can’t really do, but do something relative to it,” Grant said.

Grant’s currently waiting on his design for the First Lady to finish being stitched together in Dallas.

He designed that one when he was only nine after a trip to Washington, D.C. He hopes Michelle Obama will accept it, even wear it, and then auction it off.

Though he has other hobbies, he’s likely the only Boy Scout to sew on his own badges.
