DeSoto Superintendent May Soon Find Out Job Status

ATLANTA (AP) –  A former Atlanta public schools administrator may find out Monday if she will remain as superintendent of the DeSoto Independent School District.

Kathy Augustine was recently given a paid leave of absence from her new position as the DeSoto, Texas, school superintendent while trustees re-examine her previous administrative post in the Atlanta system.

The Atlanta school system is embroiled in widespread allegations of cheating on standardized tests.

The DeSoto school board meets Monday night. The agenda says it will discuss the superintendent’s employment, “including but not limited to, possible voluntary exit agreement with Superintendent.”

Augustine, who was accused of misrepresenting test scores and giving false information to state officials in Georgia, says that she was “neither involved in, nor aware of that kind of behavior.”

Send Ms. Augustine packing! As the sole candidate for the DeSoto ISD position her hiring reeked from the very beginning. I would hope the DeSoto ISD Board considers a variety of diverse candidates.

As a retires veteran, an Educator and a local Pastor in DeSoto, with two DeSoto HS Graduates and a current child in middle school in DISD, Why did the bord members wast all of our time meeting when they knew before hand that they did not have all of the members present. Keep her or let her go either way there will be some upset folks. But do it now before school starts.

    Inside Scoop –

Harvard degree??? Principals and other administrators who are able to pay to participate in Harvard and other on-line programs are almost always accepted.
Often district administrators, especially from large districts, pass their university research assigments on as a “special project” to someone in their Reasearch & Evaluation Departments for later use in dissertations.

Big Joke: Would Augustine have been allowed to attend Harvard as a regular student upon completing high school?

Don’t be duped! Cheating, stealing & lying are intimately and intricately related.

If she knew about the problems and did nothing about them or did not know what was going on in Atlanta and closed her eyes to the test scores she is not the person I would want in charge. In any case what good is she?
