FORNEY (AP) - A North Texas city where an 11-year-old “mayor for a day” had a street renamed Justin Bieber Way has its sign back.
Forney Mayor Darren Rozell said Friday that the Bieber sign has been recovered. Rozell says two boys confessed they were messing around, grabbed the sign and it broke.
The sign was posted Tuesday by order of Caroline Gonzalez, who was honored for her school and volunteer achievements. The sign was to come down Wednesday, but officials left it up because so many people were taking photos in Forney, located 15 miles east of Dallas. (Read more about the street renaming.)
By Thursday morning the sign was gone. (Read more about the theft reports.)
Rozell says a surveillance camera is monitoring a replacement sign that went up Thursday afternoon.
