Car Crashes Into Dallas IHOP Restaurant

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – The employees of a Dallas IHOP restaurant on Monday morning received quite a scare as an SUV came crashing into their dining room. The incident happened just after 4:30 a.m. at a location in the 7800 block of North Central Expressway.

Police officers on the scene said that the crash was an accident. The driver of the SUV is a regular patron of the restaurant – he is there about once a week – and was just arriving to meet some friends who were already waiting inside. The driver inadvertantly switched his car into reverse and then accelerated, backing right into the building.

The IHOP restaurant is open 24 hours a day, but no patrons were in the dining area when the SUV pushed through the wall and into the building. Most of the employees were in the back kitchen area of the restaurant. There were no injuries.
