ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) – Stacy and Brandon Turner drove seven hours, all the way from Lubbock, for a game that never happened. “I’m pretty disgusted,” said Brandon. “But’s it’s okay, because it’s weather and you can’t control it,” the Rangers fan added.

The Turners got a rude welcome Sunday from Mother Nature. So did Gerald Smith, who arrived early to find a good spot to tailgate. Instead, he found himself catching up on work, because tomorrow, work will be catching up on him. “Myself and about 51,000 other people have to see if they can get the day off tomorrow,” Smith said as he sat in a lawn chair in front of the Ballpark.

North Texas saw almost no rain over the summer and when it finally came, it poured all over Kendra Robison and Heather Habel’s parade. “We’re very disappointed,” said Habel. “Very disappointed,” she repeated. The two fans arrived from Wichita Falls one hour after game two of the American League Championship Series was postponed.

It seemed the only place fans could drown their sorrows was inside the gift shop at the Ballpark. Dozens of loyal fans were trying to keep the playoff energy alive by picking up some Ranger gear.

Monday’s make-up game starts at 3:20 pm, but thousands of fans are likely to miss the game because it falls on a work day. In fact, several thousand tickets have already been put up for sale on the internet. The game may be sold out, but don’t be surprised if the Ballpark has plenty of empty seats come first pitch.
