Halloween takes center stage this week – well of course after we have exhausted all of our Ranger Pride!!

Six Flags over Texas is THE place to be this weekend for special scariness! Three new haunted houses have opened on site as well as some fun musical events and as always the price includes all the great rides and attractions including the awesome new Texas Giant.

Art in October wraps up it’s month long celebration this weekend with some very special events. AURORA 2011 will debut as part of the international White Lights sensation. The entire Dallas Arts District will be filled with art, music, dance and lights as all area museums, artists, composers and even school groups get involved in the special one night only happening. The mayor will turn on the lights at 7:30pm Friday night and from that point on until midnight you are free to stroll, dine, enjoy music and arty all the way from One Arts Plaza to the Nasher Sculpture Museum for free!

Sunday night Dallas will celebrate the undead in the first annual Zombie Walk. The DALLAS Film Society and the Dallas Arts District are calling all Zombies to join them in the inaugural Arts District Zombie Walk at 6:00PM on Sunday to create a memorable closing scene of the month-long celebration of ART IN OCTOBER. So bring your best look of the walking dead and join in the fun!

Moving to more high-brow entertainnment – Dallas Independent School District students, their immediate families, as wellas faculty and staff, are being provided a unique opportunity to watch live performances of the Metropolitan Opera in high definition. It is the first school district in Texas, to receive live performances direct from the Metropolitan Opera stage. Performances available during the 2011-2012 school year will include Mozart’s Don Giovanni, and Verdi’s La Traviata and many others..The performances will be presented free of charge beginning this Saturday at noon at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, as part of the Met’s HD Live in Schools program.
