HOUSTON (AP) - A Houston megachurch minister whose services are broadcast to audiences around the world wants to be a reality TV star.

The Rev. Joel Osteen on Tuesday announced he’s signed an agreement to work with producer Mark Burnett to develop a reality show about his mission trips with members of his Lakewood Church. The program would also feature Osteen’s wife, Victoria.

Burnett is executive producer of the CBS show “Survivor.”

Lakewood Church’s website says its broadcasts reach more than 200 million households.

i agree 100% with the other two comments. My late grandfather was a very good friend of John Osteen, Joel’s dad. JOHN Osteen was a great preacher with principles and a backbone. If HE would have gone on Larry King Live, he would have been able to stand firm on questions about his faith, unlike Joel’s pathetic appearance. JOEL, who is friends with my dad, is a glorified motivational speaker, and nothing more. He never went to seminary as far as I know, and he thinks he’s knowledgeable in “The Word” because he helped prepare his dad’s sermons. It takes more than that, buddy boy. So, for all you saps who buy his motivational books, greeting cards, and other assorted SCHLOCK and kitsch, remember, you helped build his new mansion in River Oaks. He’s what’s wrong with Christianity – preaching a watered-down and worldly “gospel”. Doesn’t matter to me, mind you. I converted to Judaism after seeing all the fraudulent and pathetic Christians out there, and the fact that Christianity is filled with contradictory theology.
