Perry Double Dips State Salary And Pension

AUSTIN  (AP) — Texas Gov. Rick Perry is a double-dipper, collecting a salary and retirement benefits simultaneously.

A personal financial disclosure form that presidential candidates are required to file shows that Perry is collecting his $7,700 monthly state pension. That is allowable under state law, using a complicated formula.

Perry’s salary as governor is roughly $133,000.

Collecting retirement benefits while drawing a state salary will likely expose Perry to criticism from those who complain that public sector employees are too generously compensated.

Perry’s financial disclosure form was made public Friday by the Federal Election Commission.

He reported a net worth of at least $1.3 million and an annual income of $290,000.

The formula is only complicated to journalism majors.

Amazing. I’m a retired state employee (not from Texas) I could collect a salary as long as I worked. I had to retire to get retirement. Once you retire, the salary stops. Maybe I need to get on the Texas public payroll and start double dipping. Way to go Rick for showing leadership!

Is there anyone surprised at anything he does—he who constantly reminds us of his family and moral values and his Christian faith. He knows how to talk the talk while drawing two salaries. There are thousands in this state that would be thankful to have one salary, regardless of the size. What a disgrace.

You are right Betty half of Texas are HUNGRY, JOBLESS and without a HOME he is a DISGRACE. But! you have some fools here in the State of Texas don’t have two dimes to rub together but will vote for this ZANY.

How does a dirt poor cotton farmer who barely graduated from Texas A&M become a millionaire on $133,000 per year? Must be some good cash coming in under the table!

  • Tuttah Myles

Enriching himself. Is he still a conservative? And just to think of all the public school teachers, school programs, college professors, social workers and police officers who lost jobs and funding because of this Dumbo Jethro. By the way, take a look at the Rick(real name James Richard Perry) Perry college transcript online thanks to the Huffington Post.. OOPS!

I have just one question. With everything we Texans know about him, who are the stupid people that are voting him in year after year. I am proud to say that I have never voted for him and never will
