ERATH COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) – A 35-year-old man shot and killed his 3-year-old grandson before turning the gun on himself after becoming enraged on how his 15-year-old daughter was raising her child.
The murder-suicide happened Friday in the Erath County community of Purves, south of Stephenville.
The Stephenville Empire Tribune reports the man, identified as Jose Antonio Torres, arrived home Friday afternoon and became upset that his daughter was not at the house taking care of her 3-year-old son Miguel. The paper says Torres fired a gun at his wife before taking his grandson away in his pickup truck.
“Mrs. Torres followed in the pickup’s direction until she found her husband and grandson dead,” Erath County Sheriff Tommy Bryant told the paper.
The bodies of Torres and his grandson have been transported to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner for autopsies. The case is still under investigation.
