ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) – During Super Bowl week last year, snow plows were brought in from outside North Texas to the roads. Those plows were needed as the area experienced two winter storms in one week.
This year, we won’t have to rely on other departments for snow plows. The Texas Department Of Transportation purchased 29 plows. The North Texas Tollway Authority bought 9 snow plows.
NTTA drivers went through virtual training before the start of winter. They learned how to handle driving the big truck during dangerous travel conditions.
In addition to the snow plows, the state and cities in the area have sand trucks and crews ready to be deployed to keep bridges and overpasses clear of ice and snow.
