KELLER (CBSDFW.COM) - The Keller woman accused of killing her husband faces a judge on Friday. Police said that Michele Williams made up elaborate stories about her husband’s death, but the forensic evidence points to her as the killer.
Williams had always been a suspect in the case and now, months after her husband died, she faces charges of murder and tampering with evidence.
In October, Williams called police saying that an intruder had shot and killed her husband inside their Keller home. But just hours into the initial investigation, police said, Williams admitted to staging the robbery. She told officers that she pried the door open, hit herself in the face with a wrench and cleaned the gun. Williams claimed that she was attempting to cover up her husband’s suicide.
Forensic evidence, however, shows that the shooter was standing about 18 inches away from the victim’s head.
Officers are still trying to determine a motive. After dozens of interviews with friends and family members, nobody mentioned trouble in the couple’s marriage. Police investigators are now looking into their life insurance policy.
