Robert Davidson with the sheriff’s office in Stonewall said that 52-year-old Tauton is being held as a fugitive for a homicide charge out of Fannin County. Authorities in Texas believe that Tauton killed a family of three that had been missing since Sunday evening.

Chris Kennedy works at a nearby Dairy Queen, and said that she knew the deceased couple as Harold and Sue Harpst. She remembers them as sweet people. Harold was a double amputee and a diabetic. The third person is believed to be the couple’s adult daughter, Regina Harpst. Tauton is the couple’s stepson.
When authorites check out the home of the missing family on Thursday, they found evidence of foul play. Authorities believe that the bodies of the missing people may be inside the suspect’s truck. That truck reportedly broke down, and Tauton went to a car dealership. Acting on an alert, a local sheriff’s deputy spotting Tauton and arrested him.
