FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - The Trinity Railway Express is closing a railroad crossing in northeast Fort Worth because people keep driving around the gates.
The TRE says drivers at the Galvez Ave. crossing repeatedly go around or through the gates when trains are approaching. As a result, there have been four wrecks at that crossing in the past ten years according to the TRE. That compares to eight wrecks at the TRE’s other 36 crossings in the same period.
The crossing is located on Galvez Ave. immediately west of Riverside Drive. The TRE is putting up concrete barriers on Galvez today.
