Sat down for an interview with Jason Garrett today, some of which will be seen at 6 and 10 tonight on CBS 11 news, and the majority of which will be aired Sunday night on The Score at 10:30.

I have known Jason Garrett for 20 years, and I have never seen more of a disconnect between the public persona of someone and who they really are.  As the great John Wooden said, “Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.”

Jason Garrett’s’ character is impeccable.

He is smart, funny, and extremely compassionate, yet comes across in the media as none of the above.

My hope is that when you watch this interview, you will see that introspective side of him as he talks about his family upbringing, how it shaped him, and where he hopes to take the Dallas Cowboys.

My dearly departed mother always used to say, “Don’t break your arm patting yourself on the back,”  but I think you will enjoy it as a viewer and see just a bit of the side of him that has been largely hidden form the public.
