ALLEN (CBSDFW.COM) – Terrell Owens caught three passes, all for touchdowns, in his debut for the Allen Wranglers Saturday. Owens and the Wranglers defeated the Wichita Wild 50-30 to open the Indoor Football League season.
Owens wasn’t the only former NFL player on the field for Allen in their season opener. Defensive back Travonti Johnson played for the New York Giants before joining the IFL and winning the league rookie of the year in 2008. Johnson had one interception on defense.
The former Cowboy and six time Pro Bowler made his debut in front of 5,711 fans at the Allen Events Center Saturday night. Owens was voted player of the game thanks to his three touchdown catches for 47 yards.
The Wranglers’s next game is at the Everett Raptors on Thursday March 1. The Wranglers return to Allen on March 31 to play the Nebraska Danger.
