LONGVIEW (AP) – Officials say a United Express jet has made an emergency landing in East Texas after the pilots reported smoke on board.
A statement from the carrier says Flight 5169, operated by SkyWest Airlines, was en route from Houston to Toronto on Monday night when the pilots diverted to Longview. Nobody was injured.
Gregg County fire Marshal David Kidder told KLTV-TV (http://bit.ly/wVtncR ) that investigators are looking at whether a small printer caught fire.
The 58 passengers were put on buses to Dallas, located about 125 miles west of Longview, and were being rebooked on other flights.
The jet remained at East Texas Regional Airport on Tuesday awaiting the arrival of a maintenance crew.
