Driver Arrested After Running Over Man With 18-Wheeler

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – A trucker is jailed in Fort Worth after allegedly running over a man.

It all began when a north Fort Worth Valero station had an 18-wheeler towed from their lot for parking there overnight.

When the driver went to the ABC Wrecker lot to reclaim his truck Wednesday morning truck he was told that fees had to be calculated and paperwork completed.

“He was told to wait, to sit and wait until that was completed, however he disappeared and they looked outside in the storage lot and observed him jump into the 18-wheeler and backing out,” explained Fort Worth police spokesman Sgt. Pedro Criado.

The situation turned dangerous when two lot employees chased the fleeing truck on foot.

“He [the truck driver] obviously clipped one of the employees, causing him to fall and ran over his legs,” Criado said.

A police officer was able to catch up with the fleeing big rig.

Criado said the officer, “…initiated a traffic stop and was able to get him pulled over on the side of the freeway, and the driver of the 18-wheeler was taken into custody.”

The trucker driver remains is jail pending charges.

The injured wrecker employee is at a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

I would hope that you will be arrested if you run over someone. Stupid headline.

Tow truck worker was very stupid to think he could stop an 18 wheeler . Without knowing more about the parking ?? I would reserve judgment. The tow was probably $1500 so I could understand the drivers frustration but that’s no excuse for running someone over
