Parker County Burglaries Increasing, Sheriff Says
WEATHERFORD (CBSDFW.COM) – The number of home burglaries is on the rise in Parker County, and Sheriff Larry Fowler wants people there to take precautions.
In a news release today, Fowler says the thieves are striking all over the county, from Weatherford to Aledo.
Fowler also says crooks are stealing everything: “weapons, jewelry, prescription medications, tools, electronics, appliances, air conditioning systems, copper wiring and identification.”
On Tuesday in Azle, a burglar stole the outside air conditioning unit from a house and then broke in to steal copper tubing from the attic, Fowler said.
The steps he wants people to take are common-sense precautions. But they are things that people often overlook.
Fowler says some of the recent thefts could have been prevented if people had locked their houses and cars.
The sheriff also warns people not to leave valuables like tools on porches or in yards.
