NEW YORK (CBS NEWS) – No matter what you publish — a blog, updates to the company website, project reports or even the venerable tri-fold — you no doubt need artwork to complement it. Most people run to the internet in search of photos and clip art, since those images are free and easily accessed. But a lot of those resources are copyrighted, and using them without permission can easily land you in an embarrassing legal confrontation. That’s easy to avoid, though, if you know how and where to look for the right kind of images.

In a nutshell, you should look for photos and other images which have a Creative Commons license. Creative Commons is the name of a nonprofit organization that has developed a number of licenses, all available for free, to help artists share their work.

Hi Many thanks for the informaton, its interesting but I still need few questions and concerns regarding Images or copyright law. Presently I’m in mid launch of a new blog/site dicussing Game Reviews and game playing in overall ( Nevertheless I in a perfect world might need to show images/photos of these games on my site.

Would it be legel for me to take images via the Creator belonging to the games and release them on my website, or would I must email the game makers everytime I wished to do a new post? I’m relatively sure it could be authorized for me to get the video games myself and be able to take snap shots which I post to my online site?

One last problem unless you mind, could be Tv related, if I were to take a screen shot of any Tv program could I legitimately display that on my webpage? Appreciate it for your time.
